No matter how much work is put into your 1949-1953 Ford, if your engine won't start it doesn't mean much. No more broken springs. 1932-1953 engines were equipped with a starter support bracket (51A-11140). This bracket is usually missing, but it is highly recommended that it be used to support the starter on the oil pan.If you encounter this problem, we recommend that you replace the modern drive with an original style starter drive.

With a modern bendix starter drive installed.
Please note, on some installations of this unit, the modern style Bendix starter drive may make installation of the starter motor difficult. If that is the case, we suggest you use your old Bendix starter drive.
