A gift from dad looking to shine again

A Bowmanville, Ont. man was on the lookout for an expert restoration specialist to bring back the Corvette C2 he inherited from his father to its original glory.
On Oct. 4, 2025, Don Nelson posted on the C2 Corvettes in Canada (1963-1967) Facebook page that he was looking for someone to work on the car he had recently inherited from his father. The car was painted in Nassau Blue and looks like it was a 1965 or '66 version of the vehicle.
"My goal is to restore it back to original, the engine is out being rebuilt now and the brakes are being replaced by a mechanic in Nova Scotia where my dad lived," Nelson wrote. "I am going to have a lot of work when that’s done and I bring this car to Ontario. Some of the first things I will need to have done right away are (to) have the interior cleaned/repaired/replaced, all chrome replated and a complete paint job. I will also be seeking climate controlled storage."
Nassau Blue, according to a curbsideclassic.com report, was a good fit on the Corvette: "bright but not loud, attractive in many different lighting conditions." It was the most popular of 1965 Corvette colours, ordered by 6,022 customers or more than one quarter of the car's buyers.
Nelson said the car was all "dull no shine" and needed some work.
"My dad left it sitting in an unheated garage for about 20 years, so all the chrome pitted and paint is has lost its shine," he told a fellow Corvette buff on Facebook.
