Original SaskPower Commission truck built in Regina
By Claudio D'Andrea
Saskatoon-based TransCanada Trucks is the setting for a rare gem of a restoration: a Saskatchewan Power Commission vintage truck that was brought back to life.
Mike Lincoln of Rust Brothers posted the video of the restoration on the Rust Valley Restorers' YouTube channel in March 2025.
"From classic trucks and rare Canadian-made builds to custom restorations and forgotten gems, this yard is packed with automotive history," Lincoln wrote on the channel about the yard located west of Summerberry on the TransCanada Highway.
When he arrives at TransCanada Trucks, the truck engine is revealed with its three-way hood opened. It's a 292 with turbo and four-speed overdrive transmission.
Above the windshield is a visor which was a trademark of the Internationals. The truck in this video was built in Regina "when we actually built cars in this country," Kevin Gennis of Trans-Canada trucks says in the video.
In an interview with CTV News in July 2025, Gennis explained why he became a major supplier of classic half-ton trucks to collectors.
“Well, I picked trucks because we are in the truck capital of the world, I think. I mean, everybody had a truck,” he said of Saskatchewan.
