Short-box '52 GMC pickup needs some loving care and restoration

Looking for a "super rare" pickup truck to restore to its original glory or beef up with muscle?
A Red Deer, Alta. shop that buys, sells and restores classic vehicles may have the perfect wheels.
Rusted and Restored Auto Sales posted a 1952 GMC 9420 on its social media channels this summer. It's a three-quarter ton special bed, or a "short-box one ton," with a box that's just more than six feet long.
The pickup is "probably one of the rarest trucks I've ever had on the channel or in my personal possession," Allan Elliott says in a YouTube video posted on Aug. 6.
At the GM Oshawa plant where it was built, workers only made 838 Chevys and GMCs combined "in this configuration out of over 100,000 trucks," according to the video.
Elliott said he planned to list it for sale but said it "does need a little floor repair and stuff."
The truck includes the original inline six cylinder engine that needs to be completely rebuilt, and has a four-speed manual transmission. The hood emblem of an airplane looks like it's ready to take off along with the truck.
Anyone looking for a "super rare" truck is invited to reach out to him. "These walk-arounds are mostly just for people to see, but we do have trucks for sale," Elliott said. He also invites viewers to say whether they would keep the truck original or "would you slam it, put a 350 in it?"
The truck was selling for $4,000. It needs work -- a lot of work -- including a new floor for the bed and upholstery.
