The Precision 24 Inch Urethane Cutting Knife PRP 0071 is a long, flexible cutting tool designed for precise trimming of upholstery, carpet, headliners, weatherstripping, foam and adhesive seams. Its urethane cutting edge combines durable wear resistance with controlled flexibility so you can follow curves and contours without gouging substrate surfaces. Ideal for restoration, trim work and professional shop use, this knife improves accuracy, reduces material waste and delivers consistent, reliable performance over repeated use.
Features:
- 24-inch urethane cutting edge for long, continuous cuts and curved trimming
- Flexible yet durable blade reduces the risk of gouging substrates
- Designed for upholstery, carpet, headliner, foam, weatherseal and adhesive trimming
- Comfortable grip profile for extended use and better control
- Resists corrosion and wear for dependable, long-term service
- Simple maintenance — wipe clean and replace when edge wears
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 1/5
- Estimated time: 5–30 minutes (setup and first cut)
Instructions:
- Inspect the knife for any damage and confirm the urethane edge is intact and clean.
- Prepare and clean the work area; place a cutting mat or sacrificial board under the material to protect the work surface.
- Measure and mark the cut line on the material using a marker or chalk.
- Secure the material with clamps or tape so it cannot shift during cutting.
- Align a straightedge along the marked line if a straight cut is required; for curves, plan a smooth path.
- Hold the knife with a firm, controlled grip. Place the urethane edge at the starting point with a shallow angle.
- Pull the knife along the cut line in steady, even strokes using the straightedge as a guide when needed. Apply consistent pressure; multiple light passes are preferable to one forced cut on thicker materials.
- After cutting, inspect the edge for burrs or unevenness and trim with light passes if necessary.
- Clean the urethane edge and handle after use to remove adhesive or debris. Store flat to prevent edge deformation.
- Replace the blade or the knife per manufacturer recommendations when the cutting performance degrades.
