This Precision Door Weatherstrip Seal is a direct-fit left-or-right replacement designed for First Series 1947 GM passenger cars. It seals the door perimeter to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and maintain interior climate control while restoring the original fit and finish. Molded from high-quality EPDM rubber with a factory-style profile, the seal resists compression set, UV degradation, and temperature extremes for long-lasting performance. Ideal for restorations and maintenance, the weatherstrip provides reliable, easy-to-install protection that helps preserve vehicle value and comfort.
Features:
  • Fits First Series 1947 GM passenger cars (left or right door applications).
  • Molded EPDM rubber construction for long-term durability and weather resistance.
  • Seals door perimeter to prevent water leaks, drafts, and wind noise.
  • Factory-style profile restores original fit and finish for accurate restorations.
  • Push-in/adhesive-ready design allows quick, hassle-free installation.
  • Resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes to reduce cracking and deformation.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 20-45 minutes per door
Suggested Tools:
  • Flat-blade screwdriver or trim removal tool
  • Razor knife or scissors
  • Isopropyl alcohol and clean cloth
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (if required)
  • Rubber mallet or block of wood (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Open the door and remove the old weatherstrip by gently prying it out of the channel or peeling off adhesive remnants. Use a trim tool to avoid damaging paint.
  2. Clean the door flange and channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry completely.
  3. Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the entire door perimeter to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess with a razor knife if necessary, leaving a small overlap at joints.
  4. If the weatherstrip uses adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the flange following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. For push-in types, no adhesive may be required.
  5. Starting at the hinge side, press the weatherstrip firmly into the channel, working toward the latch side. Use a rubber mallet or a block of wood to seat the seal evenly without overstretching.
  6. Compress corner and joint areas to ensure a consistent seal. Re-check door closure and adjust position if the door binds or does not latch easily.
  7. Allow any adhesive to cure per the manufacturer's recommended time before exposing to moisture or driving the vehicle.
