- Suitable for restoration and replacement applications to maintain original appearance and function.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-90 minutes (depending on vehicle and experience)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and open the doors to access the weatherstrip mounting areas.
- Carefully remove old weatherstrip and windlace. Use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry out clips or adhesive remnants.
- Clean the groove and surrounding surfaces thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate solvent to remove old adhesive, dirt, and grease. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip pieces in place to confirm fit and identify any trimming points or joins.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the groove or onto the mounting flange of the new weatherstrip per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Starting at one end, press the weatherstrip into the groove, working slowly and avoiding unnecessary stretching. Use masking tape to hold sections in place while adhesive sets if needed.
- Install the cab windlace by pressing it into the trim channel; work in short sections and ensure it seats evenly for a neat appearance.
- Trim any excess material with scissors or a utility knife and clean off any adhesive squeeze-out.
- Allow adhesive to cure for the time recommended by the adhesive manufacturer before closing doors or exposing the area to moisture.
