The Precision Metal Stamped Molding Clip 8583 is a high-strength stamped-steel fastener designed to secure exterior and interior moldings, trim pieces, and panels. Built for durability and corrosion resistance, it restores factory fitment, reduces vibration and rattles, and provides a reliable long-term replacement for worn or broken OE clips. Its simple push-in design makes replacement quick and straightforward during restoration or routine maintenance.
Features:
  • Stamped steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting strength.
  • Secures exterior and interior molding and trim to prevent rattles and panel movement.
  • Push-in design allows quick replacement with minimal tools for fast repairs.
  • Restores factory fit and finish during restoration or trim replacement projects.
  • Durable and vibration-resistant for reliable, long-term maintenance applications.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 10 minutes per clip (varies by access)
Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool (preferred)
  • Flathead screwdriver (if needed)
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Clean cloth and mild solvent (for cleaning mounting hole)
  • Work gloves
  • Flashlight (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Inspect the damaged clip and surrounding trim to identify clip locations and any broken mount points.
  2. Clean the mounting hole and mating surfaces of dirt, grease, or old clip fragments using a cloth and mild solvent; allow to dry.
  3. Position the molding or trim piece so the clip hole aligns with the vehicle mounting hole.
  4. Push the clip into the trim or into the vehicle mounting hole depending on application orientation — ensure the retaining tabs engage fully.
  5. If access is tight, use a trim removal tool or needle-nose pliers to guide and seat the clip; avoid deforming the clip.
  6. Press the molding or trim firmly until you hear or feel the clip snap into place and the part sits flush.
  7. Gently test the trim by applying light pressure to confirm the clip retains the piece securely.
  8. Repeat for any additional clips and replace all damaged clips to restore even fit and prevent stress on remaining fasteners.
