Ivory plastic window crank spacer designed for 1956-1979 Chevrolet Corvette models. This molded shim corrects play and alignment for manual window crank handles, restoring proper clearance between the handle and door panel. Durable injection-molded plastic resists wear and prevents metal-on-metal contact, reducing vibration and rattle while preserving original appearance. Easy to install for restoration projects or routine maintenance, it helps maintain factory fit and improves the feel and operation of the window crank.
Features:
- Fits 1956-1979 Chevrolet Corvette (manual window crank models).
- Ivory colored plastic spacer/shim to match stock interior trim.
- Prevents handle-to-panel contact, reducing vibration and rattling.
- Injection-molded material for consistent thickness and long-lasting durability.
- Simple replacement part for restoration or repair to restore proper crank alignment.
- Lightweight and corrosion-resistant compared with metal alternatives.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 1/5
- Estimated time: 10-20 minutes
Instructions:
- Roll the window up fully and remove any trim or escutcheon that covers the crank retaining clip or screw (use trim tool if needed).
- If the crank is retained with a clip, use needle-nose pliers or a trim tool to carefully remove the clip. If retained by a screw, remove the screw with the appropriate screwdriver.
- Gently pull the window crank off the splined shaft. Take care not to scratch the handle or door panel.
- Clean the splined shaft and the back of the crank handle with a clean cloth to remove dirt and old grease.
- Place the ivory spacer onto the splined shaft, aligning the center hole with the shaft and the tab (if present) with the slot on the shaft or door as required.
- Reinstall the crank handle over the spacer, ensuring it seats fully and aligns with the spacer.
- Reinstall the retaining clip or screw to secure the crank. Test the crank operation to confirm proper clearance and smooth movement.
- Reinstall any trim or escutcheon removed earlier and clean the area.
