This lower door hinge pin set provides a direct-fit replacement for worn or damaged lower hinge pins on 1980–1996 GM passenger cars. Designed to restore proper door alignment, eliminate sag and reduce wind/noise by securely fastening the door to the hinge assembly. Manufactured from hardened steel with a corrosion-resistant finish and engineered for reliable, long-lasting performance, the kit makes restoring factory fitment simple and helps preserve vehicle value during restoration or maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1980–1996 GM cars (lower door hinge pin replacement).
  • Precision-fit lower hinge pins and bushings restore factory door alignment and stop sagging.
  • Hardened steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting durability.
  • Direct OE-style replacement for easy installation with common automotive tools.
  • Prevents further hinge wear, reduces vibration and wind noise, and supports restoration quality.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30–60 minutes per door
Suggested Tools:
  • floor jack or door stand with wood block
  • penetrating oil (e.g., PB Blaster)
  • hammer and drift/punch
  • snap-ring pliers or needle-nose pliers (if retaining clip used)
  • socket set and ratchet
  • clean rags and degreaser
  • grease or anti-seize lubricant
  • safety glasses and gloves
  • torque wrench (if hinge bolts are removed)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground and open the door to be serviced. Support the door with a floor jack and a wood block under the door skin or use a helper/door stand to prevent dropping.
  2. Spray penetrating oil on the existing lower hinge pin and allow it to soak for several minutes to loosen corrosion.
  3. If present, remove any retaining clip, cap, or access cover from the hinge pin using pliers. If hinge bolts must be loosened for access, loosen them now using a socket set (do not fully remove door unless necessary).
  4. Using a punch/drift and hammer, drive the old lower hinge pin out from the bottom up. If the pin is stuck, apply additional penetrating oil and work it free slowly; a slide hammer or bench vise can help in severe cases.
  5. Remove any worn bushings or debris from the hinge bore. Clean the hinge surfaces and bores with degreaser and rags. Inspect hinge mounting points for excessive wear or damage.
  6. Lightly coat the new hinge pin and bushings with grease or anti-seize. Position the bushing(s) in the hinge bore, align the door and hinge, then insert the new lower hinge pin from the bottom and tap it flush into place.
  7. Reinstall the retaining clip, cap, or access cover. If hinge bolts were loosened, tighten them to factory torque specifications.
  8. Carefully lower the door jack or remove the support and cycle the door several times to check alignment. If necessary, make minor adjustments to the hinge position for proper fit, gap, and latch engagement.
  9. Verify smooth operation and that the door closes securely without sagging. Re-torque hinge bolts after a short break-in period if applicable.
