Outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1982–2006 Jaguar vehicles. This steering linkage component secures the steering rack to the steering knuckle, enabling precise wheel alignment and responsive steering. Built for durability and consistent performance, it helps eliminate play in the steering system, reduces vibration, and prevents premature tire wear. Ideal for restoration or routine maintenance to restore steering feel and safety to factory specifications.
Features:
- Fits 1982–2006 Jaguar models (outer tie rod end, right/left hand) — verify with vehicle VIN and part diagrams.
- High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Precisely machined ball stud and tapered seat for secure fitment and accurate steering response.
- Helps eliminate steering play, reduce vibration, and extend tire life.
- Direct replacement for worn or damaged outer tie rod ends — ideal for restoration and maintenance projects.
- Greaseable or sealed options available for low-maintenance durability and reliable performance.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; recommended wheel alignment after installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle and clean the area to access fasteners.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and count the number of turns or measure the exposed length to preserve alignment.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unbolt the castle nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle without damaging the boot.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns or to the measured length.
- Inspect inner tie rod and steering components for wear; replace if necessary.
- Install the new outer tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the recorded position, then insert into the steering knuckle.
- Tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer's torque specification and install a new cotter pin if required; tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end.
- If greaseable, apply grease via the zerk fitting until boot begins to swell slightly.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
