'Big Red Zed' roars back to life
By Claudio D'Andrea
In less than six minutes, the YouTube creator who goes by the name of @kars_tony posted on his KARS on Cars channel the restoration of a 1970 Camaro Z28.
The car was purchased in California and was restored to racing-red with-black-stripes glory and shown in the video.
The humorous YouTuber describes his work in the videos as, "Cuttin' and weldin', sandin' and paintin' on things and stuff, makin' some wisecracks along the way." He says the car had its problems. They included issues with door gaps and tires purchased on clearance and there was a lot of work that went into fixing the wheel lips.
"I had to be GM again to do the car the way GM done it," he says.
The work involved "a lot of cutting and dicing and slicing and cussing and cussing and cutting and cutting and cussing," he adds.
The Z28 had a 383 kit engine in it and a TMIC six-speed transmission.
The video concludes by showing his freehand work on making sure the black stripes lined up and were placed exactly where they were in the original car.
"This was a whale-tail car and it stayed a whale-tail car and this is the way I left it to the dude," he concludes.
