- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Prepare vehicle: roll the window fully up, or if needed, disconnect negative battery terminal for vehicles with powered accessories (optional precaution).
- Remove the door panel: use a trim tool and appropriate screwdrivers to remove screws and clips, then gently lift the panel away to access the inner door.
- Peel back or remove the vapor barrier carefully to expose the window channel and glass.
- Lower the glass (if necessary) to gain access to the old channel. Use masking tape to secure glass in place once positioned if required.
- Remove the old glass run channel by pulling it out of the door frame lip; cut away any stubborn sections with a utility knife and remove adhesive residue.
- Clean the channel track and drain holes inside the door of dirt, old adhesive, and debris; wipe dry with shop towels.
- Apply a light coat of silicone spray or soapy water to the new channel's inner lip to ease installation.
- Beginning at the front of the door opening, press the new channel lip into the door frame groove. Use a trim tool to seat the channel evenly along its length and ensure the channel's profile is fully engaged.
- Carefully lower and raise the window several times to seat the glass into the new channel and verify smooth operation without binding.
