Instructions:
- Open the liftgate and remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out any retained sections using a flat plastic trim tool to avoid damaging the channel.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an automotive cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and grease. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the channel to confirm length and orientation. Trim any excess with a utility knife for a precise fit.
- If the seal is adhesive-backed, peel the release liner as you go. If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Starting at the center of the liftgate, press the seal firmly into the channel and work outward toward each end, ensuring the seal seats evenly and is not twisted. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Trim and tuck ends neatly into corners for a clean finish. Close the liftgate slowly and check for proper compression and alignment; adjust if necessary.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per the adhesive instructions before exposing to moisture or driving.
