Instructions:
- Park on a level surface and wear safety gear. If windshield removal is required, have a second person or follow vehicle-specific procedures for glass removal.
- Carefully remove the exterior steel trim molding using a trim tool or protected screwdriver to avoid scratching the paint. Set trim aside for reinstallation.
- Cut and remove the old weatherstrip. Use a utility knife and pry tools to fully extract any remnants from the body channel and from the glass bead.
- Clean the channel and glass seating area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt and oils. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the windshield opening and over the glass to confirm orientation and fit. Note the trim groove alignment for the steel molding.
- Apply a light soapy water or silicone lubricant to the seal lip to ease installation (do not use petroleum-based products). Position the seal into the body channel or over the windshield bead as appropriate for your vehicle.
- Work the seal evenly around the opening, using a rubber mallet or block of wood to gently seat the seal into place. Avoid overstretching the rubber.
- Reinstall the steel trim into the seal's groove, ensuring it snaps into place with even pressure along the length. Use masking tape to hold sections if needed while seating.
- If the windshield was removed, reinstall it following manufacturer procedures and any required urethane or adhesive instructions. Inspect the seal for continuous contact and proper compression.
- Perform a water test or visual inspection for gaps. Re-trim or reseat any areas as needed for a watertight fit.
