A direct-fit windshield weatherstrip engineered for 1971–1977 Ford Maverick models, this seal provides an OEM-style barrier that prevents water intrusion, wind noise, and road debris from entering the cabin. Designed to work with the chrome windshield trim that inserts into body clips, the pliable rubber compound resists cracking and shrinkage for durable, long-lasting performance. Ideal for restorations or replacement projects, it restores proper windshield seating and improves vehicle comfort and safety while remaining easy to install with basic hand tools.
Features:
- Fits 1971–1977 Ford Maverick (windshield application).
- OEM-style rubber compound resists weathering, cracking, and shrinkage.
- Works with chrome windshield trim that inserts into body clips for correct factory appearance.
- Creates a watertight seal to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise.
- Straightforward replacement for restoration and maintenance of original fit and finish.
- Flexible design simplifies installation and seating around windshield corners.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and chrome trim. Use a trim tool or protected screwdriver to pry away the trim without damaging paint.
- Remove any remaining adhesive, dirt, and old clip material from the windshield channel. Clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a rag; allow to dry.
- Inspect body clips in the channel. Replace any broken or missing clips before installing the new seal.
- Lightly wet the new weatherstrip with soapy water or apply a rubber lubricant to help it slide into place.
- Starting at the center top of the windshield, press the new weatherstrip into the channel and work outward toward each corner, ensuring the bulb and flange fully seat into the channel.
- Fit the corners carefully, trimming only if necessary for a clean, even fit. If fit feels loose in areas, apply a small amount of weatherstrip adhesive to secure it.
- Reinstall the chrome windshield trim by aligning it with the weatherstrip and pressing it into the body clips until fully engaged. Use a rubber mallet gently if needed to seat the trim.
- Inspect the complete seal for gaps or misaligned sections. Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions, then test for leaks using a garden hose or light spray.
