MCK-3442-68 is a molding clip kit engineered to secure windshield and rear window moldings on classic 1968–1969 Plymouth Barracuda 2‑door hardtop (fastback) models. The kit supplies OEM-style clips that restore proper alignment and retention of exterior glass trim, preventing wind noise, water intrusion and trim damage. Built for durability and ease of installation, this kit helps complete exterior restoration projects with reliable, long-lasting fastening where factory clips have corroded or failed.
Features:
- Fits 1968–1969 Plymouth Barracuda 2-door hardtop (fastback) models.
- Contains OEM-style clips to secure windshield and rear window moldings.
- Corrosion-resistant plated steel construction for long life and dependable retention.
- Restores proper trim alignment to reduce wind noise and prevent damage or leaks.
- Snap-in design allows straightforward replacement without specialty parts.
- Ideal for restoration projects and routine trim repairs to return factory fitment.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding paint with masking tape where trim will be worked.
- Carefully remove the molding/trim using a trim removal tool or wrapped flat screwdriver to avoid bending the trim. Save any reusable pieces and note clip locations.
- Remove old clips from the channel. Use needle-nose pliers or a pick to extract corroded clips. Dispose of damaged clips.
- Clean the glass channel and surrounding area with solvent and a shop towel. Inspect for rust or metal damage; address any corrosion before installing new clips.
- Test-fit new clips along the channel to match original spacing and locations. If existing mounting holes are present, align clips to those points.
- Install clips by pressing each into the channel until it snaps or seats fully. Some clips engage by inserting a tang and then pressing; follow the clip’s seating orientation.
- Reinstall the molding by aligning it with the seated clips and pressing evenly along the length. Use a rubber mallet and wood block to apply even pressure without deforming the trim.
- Check fitment for even gaps and secure seating. Cycle any movable trim and inspect for wind noise or gaps. Re-adjust clips as necessary.
- After installation, perform a water check (hose test) around the assembled area to ensure there are no leaks. Replace any weatherstrip adhesives or seals if needed.
