Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and disconnect negative battery terminal if the door has powered components.
- Remove the interior door panel: pry off trim pieces, remove screws, and gently lift the panel to disengage clips. Use a trim tool to avoid damage.
- Disconnect any electrical connectors (power windows, locks, speakers) and set the door panel aside in a safe place.
- Locate and remove the existing front door hardware (hinges/latch brackets or retaining bolts as applicable) using the socket set or screwdriver. Keep fasteners if they are reusable and note their positions.
- Compare new tempered hardware to the removed parts to confirm fit and orientation.
- Position the new hardware in place and start all fasteners by hand to ensure correct alignment. Do not fully tighten until all bolts are threaded.
- With the door supported, adjust the hardware to achieve proper door gap and latch engagement. Close the door slowly to verify alignment and make fine adjustments as needed.
- Once aligned, tighten fasteners to a snug fit. If torque specs are available from the vehicle manual, torque to those values. Avoid overtightening to prevent stripping.
- Reconnect electrical connectors and re-install the interior door panel, ensuring all clips and screws are secured.
- Test door operation: open/close several times, check latch engagement, and listen for rattles. Reconnect the battery if disconnected and re-test powered features.
